What daily living support is

A hand with the everyday — never a takeover

Daily Living & Personal Care is hands-on help with the everyday tasks of life, delivered in your home and community. The goal is never to do everything for you — it is to make daily life comfortable, safe and as independent as you want it to be.

Personal care, with dignity

Showering, dressing, grooming and toileting — always private, patient and respectful.

Meals & nutrition

Planning, shopping and cooking — building kitchen confidence along the way.

Health & medication

Medication prompts, appointment support and coordination with your health team.

Building your skills

Where you want it, we help you learn to do more yourself — at your pace, on your terms.

A hand with all of it

Everything the everyday needs.

Take what helps, leave what does not. Your support is shaped entirely around your day.

Daily living support is likely a good fit if…

  • You need a hand with personal care or everyday tasks at home.
  • You want to live independently, with support for the harder parts.
  • You would like flexible help — a few hours a week or every day.
  • You want to build skills and confidence to do more yourself over time.
  • A carer needs support to keep the everyday sustainable.

A different support may suit better if…

  • You need round-the-clock or overnight support in a home — look at SIL or 24/7 Care.
  • You mainly need help coordinating your plan — that is Support Coordination.
  • You need complex clinical care — look at Nursing Care or High-Intensity Personal Care.
  • You want a specialist accessible home — that is SDA.

Not sure how many hours or what kind of help you need? A free Meet & Greet will map it out with you — honestly, and with no pressure.

Funding, without the fog

How daily living support is funded

Daily living and personal care is funded from your Core Supports budget — the most flexible part of your plan. Here is how it works.

Step 1

Funded from Core

Personal care and daily living come from your Core Supports (Assistance with Daily Life) budget.

Step 2

Flexible hours

Use the hours the way that suits you — a few a week, mornings and evenings, or daily.

Step 3

You choose your workers

Matched, screened workers you meet first — and can change if the fit is not right.

Step 4

Toward independence

Where you want it, we help you build skills so you need less support over time.

Funded from: Core Supports — Assistance with Daily Life.

Flexible: From a few hours a week up to daily support, shaped around you.

You cover: Everyday living costs (food, bills) — support hours are funded.

The goal: Comfort, safety and as much independence as you want.

Good questions

Daily Living & Personal Care, answered

Hands-on help with everyday tasks: showering, dressing, grooming and toileting; meal planning and cooking; medication prompts; mobility and moving safely; around-the-home help; and support to get out into the community. It is delivered in your home and community, flexibly, with dignity.

Always. Personal care is intimate, and we treat it that way — private, patient and respectful, by trained, screened workers who put your dignity first every time.

It is completely flexible. Some people have a couple of hours a week; others have support every day, morning and evening. We shape it around your routine and your Core Supports budget, and you can adjust as life changes.

Wherever possible, yes. We match you with a worker who fits, protect continuity, and you can request a change if the fit is not right — so you see the same trusted faces.

Daily living and personal care is funded from your Core Supports budget (Assistance with Daily Life) — the most flexible part of your plan. Support hours are funded; everyday living costs like food and bills remain yours.

Gencare is based in the west of Melbourne and supports participants across Victoria, with our footprint expanding into Geelong, Ballarat, Bendigo and regional areas. Reach out and we will confirm what is available in your area.

If your plan includes Core Supports — Assistance with Daily Life — you can use it for personal care and everyday help. The NDIS test is whether the support is reasonable and necessary because of your disability, not a diagnosis threshold. If you are unsure what your plan actually allows, bring it to a Meet & Greet and we will go through it in plain English.

Yes. Mornings, evenings, overnight and weekends are all possible — and mornings are the most requested time we roster, so we plan for it. Overnight support can be an active shift, where someone is awake and available, or a sleepover, where a worker sleeps on site and gets up if you need them. Which one suits comes down to how often you need help through the night.
