Coordination in the city is largely a filtering problem. There are forty providers, several are poor, and the job is knowing which of them to call. For this support, yes — and we would say so if it were not true. Coordination is phone, video, email and advocacy. What it needs is someone who knows the NDIS system and will actually chase things, not someone in the next suburb. Where being local genuinely matters is hands-on support, and we are honest that our Barwon team is still being built.
Then you get told that, and we work on what to do about it. Sometimes it is telehealth, sometimes a provider who travels and whose travel your plan can absorb, sometimes making the case at your next review for a different mix of supports. What we will not do is hand you a list of Melbourne services and let you discover the drive for yourself.
More than most people expect, and it is worth watching. Providers can bill travel to reach you, which in a region like the Barwon can quietly consume a serious share of a budget. Keeping an eye on that ratio, and restructuring supports when it gets out of hand, is part of what coordination should be doing for you here.
