One support that is not rationed by geography
Almost every NDIS support gets thinner the further you live from Melbourne. Fewer workers, longer travel, providers who service a town on alternate Thursdays or not at all. It is the defining frustration of being a participant in regional Victoria, and most of it is a workforce problem no amount of goodwill solves quickly.
Support Coordination is the exception. It is phone, video, email and advocacy — the work is knowing the system and being persistent with it, and neither of those degrades over distance. Someone in Swan Hill gets the same coordination as someone in Footscray, which is not true of a single other support in the scheme.
What coordination cannot do is invent a support worker in your town. Where nothing exists, the honest job is saying so, and then working on what else could answer the same need — telehealth, a provider who travels and whose travel your plan can absorb, or a different mix argued at your next review.
Being told honestly that nothing exists in your town is worth more than a list of providers who will never drive there.

Support Coordination — Level 2 in Regional Victoria, answered
For coordination, yes — Gippsland including Traralgon, Sale and Bairnsdale; the Goulburn and Murray including Shepparton, Wodonga and Wangaratta; the Wimmera around Horsham; the South West around Warrnambool; and the Mallee including Mildura and Swan Hill. This support is not roster-dependent, so distance genuinely does not limit it.
You get told that plainly, and then we work on what else could meet the same need — telehealth where it genuinely works, a provider who travels if your plan can absorb the cost, or a different mix of supports argued at your next review. What we will not do is hand you a list of services that will never make the drive.
Often far more than people realise. Providers can bill travel to reach you, and in rural Victoria that can quietly consume a large share of a budget before any support is delivered. Monitoring that ratio, and restructuring when it gets out of hand, is one of the more valuable things coordination does regionally.
We will not pretend to know. Our footprint is growing and where it grows next is genuinely driven by where the enquiries come from. What we can say honestly is that coordination is available to you now regardless, and that telling us where you are does actually influence the decision.
