Two different answers, depending on your postcode
If you are in Melbourne’s west, Gencare has seven houses — Deanside, Albion, Fraser Rise, Melton, Cobblebank, St Albans and Tarneit — clustered close enough that you can look at more than one in a day and move between them if a household turns out to be wrong. That is a genuinely unusual thing to be able to offer and it is specific to that part of the city.
If you are in the inner city, the north, the east or the south-east, we have no house near you, and moving to the west to get one is rarely the right trade. There SIL means the support, delivered in whatever home you live in — a place you already rent, somewhere you are moving into with others, or a family home where the arrangement is changing.
Both are real supported independent living. The NDIS funds SIL as the support, not the building, and a great deal of it happens in homes the provider has nothing to do with. What matters is being told which of the two conversations you are actually in before you spend three months in the wrong one.

In the west, viewings of the seven homes can be arranged now. Elsewhere across the metro, support in a home you already have depends on matching workers near you — quickest in established areas, slower out in the growth corridors, and we will tell you which you are in.

Supported living is the support, not the building. Half the confusion in this part of the NDIS comes from nobody saying that out loud.

All seven are in the west — Deanside, Albion, Fraser Rise, Melton, Cobblebank, St Albans and Tarneit. There are none in the inner city, the north, the east or the south-east. If you are in those areas, SIL with us means support delivered in your own home rather than a room in ours, and we would rather say that plainly than let you find out later.
Different, not worse, and for many people better. Keeping your tenancy separate from your support means being unhappy with a provider never puts your housing at risk. The trade-off is that finding and holding the right home is your project rather than ours, which is a real burden — and something coordination can genuinely help carry.
You can, and some people do — but think about it carefully rather than being sold it. Moving means leaving whatever you have built where you are: services, community, family who visit, the bus route you know. Where the western homes are genuinely the right answer we will say so, and where they are not, we will say that too.

No, none of them, anywhere in Victoria. SDA is funding for purpose-built housing designed around high physical or behavioural needs, and it is a separate part of a plan from SIL. If your plan is built around SDA we are not the housing answer, and we will tell you that on the first call rather than the fifth.
