Psychosocial Recovery Coaching in Bendigo and the Loddon.
Someone in your corner for the long stretch — and one of the very few mental health supports that regional distance does not quietly ration.
Where psychosocial support is thinnest, this travels
Psychosocial supports are scarce almost everywhere and scarcest outside the metropolitan area. Waiting lists in central Victoria run long, services close and reopen, and people who have been unwell are asked to hold their own continuity while the system reshuffles around them. That is a lot to ask of anyone.
Recovery coaching is built differently. It is a sustained relationship rather than a course of treatment, oriented around what someone wants their life to look like rather than symptom management, and it works over phone and video without losing what makes it useful. That combination makes it one of the few psychosocial supports that does not degrade with distance.
It is not clinical treatment and does not replace a psychologist, psychiatrist or Bendigo Health. It sits alongside them — and often it is the thing holding the whole arrangement together while the clinical parts come and go.
What can start now
Now. Recovery coaching is not tied to a local roster and does not require our Bendigo hub to exist, so this is available in full while everything else here is still being planned.
What recovery coaching is, and what it is not
A recovery coach works with you on what you want your life to look like — routines, relationships, work, study, managing the practical fallout of being unwell — and helps you navigate the NDIS and the mental health system alongside that. Many coaches have lived experience of mental illness themselves, which changes the conversation in ways that are hard to overstate.
It is not therapy, not clinical treatment, and not a substitute for a psychiatrist or psychologist. If what you need is clinical care, coaching should be helping you get it rather than standing in for it — and a coach who blurs that line is doing you harm, not a favour.
What psychosocial recovery coaching in Bendigo & Loddon actually looks like
A relationship, not a course
Recovery is not linear and neither is this. The value accumulates over months, not in a fixed number of sessions.
Continuity through the gaps
When a clinical service closes or a waitlist stalls, having one consistent person is what stops the whole thing unravelling.
Distance does not ration it
Phone and video work here without hollowing the support out, which is not true of most psychosocial services.
Recovery rarely runs in a straight line. What helps most is somebody who is still there when it doubles back.

Psychosocial Recovery Coaching in Bendigo & Loddon, answered
Yes. It is delivered through a sustained relationship over phone, video and where practical in person, and it does not depend on the local team we are still planning. Along with Support Coordination, it is one of two supports we can genuinely offer across the Loddon today.
A coordinator builds and maintains your supports. A coach works with you on the life those supports are meant to enable — and specifically on the psychosocial side of that, usually with lived experience of mental illness informing how they do it. Some people have both funded; the two roles work well together and are genuinely different jobs.
No, and it should not be treated as a replacement. Coaching is not therapy or clinical treatment. If clinical care is what you need, a good coach helps you get and keep it — including navigating waitlists and Bendigo Health — rather than filling the gap themselves.
That is expected rather than disqualifying. Recovery is not linear and coaching is built for that — periods of intensive contact, periods of very little, and someone who is still there when things pick up again. Not being able to commit to a weekly appointment is not a reason to think this is not for you.
