Respite is the next suburb, not the next city
The Deanside home is our only short-term accommodation site, and Deanside adjoins Caroline Springs. On every other page in this part of Melbourne that answer has to be "further west". Here it is not.
The one part of Melbourne where our respite answer is the next suburb over, not the other side of the city.

Somya, Shreya, Ritusree — Gencare support coordinators.
Each of them publishes a conflict-of-interest declaration. None of them is based in Caroline Springs, and the page says where they are.
Caroline Springs was built quickly and mostly at once, which is why so much of it looks the same age. The estates went up around the lake and the town centre, the schools filled, and a generation of families moved in together. Two decades on, a lot of those households are carrying something they did not plan for, and the person doing most of the carrying is usually a parent who has stopped counting the hours.
That is the shape of what people ask us here. More enquiries from Caroline Springs are about respite and short-term stays than from anywhere else we work — and this is the one page where we can answer that with a place rather than a promise. Our short-term accommodation runs from the Deanside home, which is the adjoining suburb, and our nearest base at Fraser Rise already names Caroline Springs in the area it serves.
The second thing people ask about is the household itself: cleaning, laundry, the tasks that quietly expand until they fill every evening. Those are fundable supports rather than favours, and treating them as real work is usually what makes the rest of a plan hold together. What we do not do is manage your plan — we are a provider, and saying so now saves you a phone call.
Melton-corridor localities our coverage is already on the record for, and the ones our Fraser Rise base names first. It is what we can point to, not the edge of the map:
Don’t see your area? Caroline Springs coverage is broader than this list — ask us about your town.
The Deanside home is our only short-term accommodation site, and Deanside adjoins Caroline Springs. On every other page in this part of Melbourne that answer has to be "further west". Here it is not.
Cleaning, laundry and the tasks that expand to fill an evening are fundable support, not favours. Treating them as real rostered work is often what stops the rest of a plan quietly collapsing.
Complex personal care is a different skill from ordinary personal care, not the same skill more often. It needs training, supervision and a plan a nurse has actually read.
Fraser Rise was placed for the Melton growth corridor rather than inherited from somewhere else, and it publishes Caroline Springs among the localities it serves.
Respite is the support people here ask us for most, and it is the one they apologise for asking about. This is the shape of how it usually goes — an illustration, not a participant.
A mother in her sixties is doing the mornings, the medication, the appointments and the nights. None of it is in the plan as her work, because none of it was ever counted as work. What she notices first is not exhaustion — it is that she has stopped making arrangements of her own, because she can no longer be sure she will keep them.
The load is real whether or not a plan names it.
She does not ring to ask for respite. She rings to ask whether respite is the kind of thing people like her are allowed to ask for. That is a different conversation, and it is the one worth having properly: what a short stay is, where it happens, who else is there, and what the person she cares for would actually make of it.
We answer the question underneath the question.
Our short-term accommodation runs from the Deanside home — the adjoining suburb, not the other side of the city. We can show her the house, its written descriptions and its photographs before anyone commits to anything. What we cannot do is promise the dates: it is one house, and who is already staying there decides what is open. So the answer is a real place and a genuine maybe, which is more use than a warm maybe about nowhere.
A real address beats a reassuring vagueness.
None of that requires her to describe herself as a carer, or to accept a label she has spent years avoiding. It requires one phone call in which nobody is trying to sell her anything.
This is an illustration, not a participant. We do not publish stories about the people we support without their consent, and we do not invent them to fill a page.
Nobody asks for respite because the week is going well. They ask because it has been going badly for long enough that saying so out loud has started to feel like failing.
What people around Caroline Springs ask us for most. Respite and the household load come up together more often here than anywhere else we work:
A break that restores everyone
Learn moreA clean, running home without the load on you
Learn moreComplex, clinical personal care — safely and with dignity
Learn moreHands-on help with the everyday, your way
Learn moreA guide who makes your plan actually work
Learn moreGet out, connect and live fully
Learn moreYour suburb, and roughly what you are looking for. That is enough for us to know whether we can help in Caroline Springs.
In business hours, and not a form response — someone who can actually answer the question you asked.
At home, somewhere neutral, or over video. No commitment, and no pressure to decide on the day.
If we are the right fit, we build the support around you. If we are not, we will say so.
This page can answer the respite question properly, which most of our pages cannot. That makes it more important to be exact about the parts it still cannot promise.
Fraser Rise is our nearest base, and it was placed for the Melton growth corridor rather than inherited — Caroline Springs is one of the localities it publishes as the area it serves. The Deanside home, where respite runs, is nearer still: it is the adjoining suburb.
A diagram of relationships, not a map. Position and angle carry no direction or distance.
Visits are by appointment rather than a walk-in counter, and support itself can usually happen at home or in the community instead.
About the Fraser Rise baseA base nearby is not the same as support being nearby, and the base is not where the support happens. Visits are by appointment rather than a walk-in counter, and almost everything we do occurs at your address or in the community. We have also not put a travel time on this page, because we have not measured one.
We do not have a shopfront in Caroline Springs, and we would rather name the people who pick up than imply one. These are the coordinators who work across Melbourne — their real experience, their own words, and their position on conflicts of interest, on the record.

Yes, and this is the one part of Melbourne where we can say that without pointing a long way away. Our short-term accommodation runs from the Deanside home, which is the adjoining suburb. It is a house rather than a facility, so what is available depends on the dates and on who is already staying there — which is worth asking about early rather than late.
Household tasks are a funded support category, and they are one of the things people here ask us about most. What matters is how it is set up: we roster it as support work by a support worker, which means the same person can help with the rest of the routine rather than arriving to clean and leaving again. If your plan does not currently fund it, a coordinator can help you make the case at your next review.
Not in Caroline Springs itself. The nearest Gencare homes are at Deanside and Fraser Rise, both close by, and there are others further along the corridor at Melton and Cobblebank. A home existing is not the same as a place being open in it, so if supported living is what you are looking for, ask us what is genuinely available rather than what exists on a map.
Caroline Springs, Deanside, Fraser Rise, Taylors Hill, Plumpton and Rockbank — the Melton-corridor localities our coverage is on the record for. That list is a record rather than a boundary. If you are elsewhere in the corridor, tell us the street and we will say what we could genuinely sustain there rather than what we would like to.
Some of it, and we will tell you plainly which. Bowel care, PEG feeding, complex transfers and epilepsy management need workers trained and supervised for those specific tasks, and a plan a registered nurse has reviewed. Where we can staff it properly we will say so; where we cannot yet, we will say that instead of taking the referral and working it out later.
No. We are a registered provider, not a plan manager — under the NDIS those are separate roles, funded separately, and there is a good reason to keep them apart: the organisation paying the invoices should not be the organisation writing them. A coordinator can help you find a plan manager, and we take nothing for the referral.
