Plain language, first conversation
A first conversation is for working out what you need, not for signing anything. If we use a term without explaining it, stop us — that is a failure on our side.
Most people arrive here not knowing what to ask for. That is normal.

Somya, Shreya, Ritusree — Gencare support coordinators.
Each of them publishes a conflict-of-interest declaration. None of them is based in Preston, and the page says where they are.
Most of the people who reach us from Preston are not comparing providers yet. They are still working out what the NDIS actually pays for, whether their situation counts, and what the difference is between a support worker, a coordinator and a plan manager. That is an entirely reasonable place to be starting from, and the sector does a poor job of meeting people there.
So this is the plain version. Support falls into a few practical groups: help with the everyday things — showering, dressing, meals, the shape of a day; help around the house; help getting out and being part of things; help building skills so you need less support over time; and short stays away when everyone needs a break. Coordination is the separate job of making those fit together and holding providers to account.
What we can do in Preston is deliver those supports where you live, and be honest about the rest. We do not have an office in the northern suburbs, so what matters is whether we have workers near you. If your plan does not fund what you actually need, the useful thing is to know that before a plan review rather than after it.
Preston and the immediately surrounding localities our coverage is already on the record for:
Don’t see your area? Preston coverage is broader than this list — ask us about your town.
A first conversation is for working out what you need, not for signing anything. If we use a term without explaining it, stop us — that is a failure on our side.
Plans are written in categories that do not match how anyone lives. We will sit with yours and translate it into what it actually buys, including where it falls short.
Community access is one of the most under-used supports there is. Being somewhere with other people, regularly, changes more than an extra hour of housework does.
A Meet & Greet costs nothing and commits you to nothing. If we are not the right fit, saying so is a better outcome than a service agreement nobody is happy with.
Nobody should have to learn a funding vocabulary to get help with a shower. If a provider cannot explain it plainly, that is their problem to fix.
The supports people in Preston most often turn out to be looking for, once the jargon is cleared away:
Hands-on help with the everyday, your way
Learn moreGet out, connect and live fully
Learn moreA guide who makes your plan actually work
Learn moreA clean, running home without the load on you
Learn morePractical skills for a more independent life
Learn moreA break that restores everyone
Learn moreYour suburb, and roughly what you are looking for. That is enough for us to know whether we can help in Preston.
In business hours, and not a form response — someone who can actually answer the question you asked.
At home, somewhere neutral, or over video. No commitment, and no pressure to decide on the day.
If we are the right fit, we build the support around you. If we are not, we will say so.
Most people reaching this page are still working out what they are entitled to ask for. So this is what a conversation with us can and cannot settle.
We do not have a shopfront in Preston, and we would rather name the people who pick up than imply one. These are the coordinators who work across Melbourne — their real experience, their own words, and their position on conflicts of interest, on the record.

Yes, delivered in your own home and community. We do not have an office in the northern suburbs, so the honest thing that decides quality here is whether we have support workers living close to you. Ask us that directly and we will answer it directly.
In practice, five groups. Help with everyday personal things like showering, dressing and meals. Help around the house — cleaning, laundry, shopping. Help getting out and being part of the community. Help building skills so you rely on support a little less over time. And short stays away so everyone gets a break. Coordination is a separate support that makes those work together.
Yes, and you are in the majority. Plans are written in funding categories rather than in the language of anyone’s week. Bring yours to a Meet & Greet and we will read it with you and say what it genuinely covers, what it does not, and what is worth raising at your next review. That conversation is free and you are not committing to anything by having it.
A support worker does the work with you — the shower, the shopping, the outing, the skills. A support coordinator does not deliver support; their job is to find and organise it, hold providers to their agreements, and sort things out when a service falls over. Some plans fund both, some fund only support, and it is worth knowing which yours does.
One conversation. Tell us roughly what is going on and we will tell you whether we can help, what it would look like, and what it would cost against your plan. If something else fits you better — including another provider — we will say so. Nothing is signed at that stage.
